The Johann & Konen company was founded in Wuppertal in August 1948 by Heinz Johann and Heinz Konen. The production facility was located in a burnt-out ruin from the Second World War and its staff consisted of both founders together with a further two engineers.
Owing to the fine management and positive prospects on the market, production was expanded and the payroll now doubled to more than 80 employees. In order to remain competitive, it was decided in the same year to acquire a factory building in Bonn Beuel and relocate the company from Wuppertal to Bonn. The company introduced production line work in 1958.
Since the end of the 1950‘s, JOKON has been a recognised training company, offering apprenticeships in commercial and technical professions.
Furthermore, new machines were purchased and further production methods were introduced, such as for example plastic injection moulding and mould building. This resulted in an increased requirement in terms of employees and the payroll therefore increased to 120 persons in 1964. This led in turn to the company‘s need to move premises in 1967. A new plot of 5300 mÇ was purchased in Bonn Pützchen, where the company has been based to this day.
